Homemade Avocado and Chilli Hummus

March 31, 2013

Ok so I know that this doesn't look like the most attractive food in the world but I'm on a bit of a hummus bender and this is one is particularly yummy and pretty healthy too. I find hummus is one the easiest things to make as you pretty much have to just throw a bunch of ingredients in the food processer. Anyway here is the recipe:
You will need:
One tin of chick peas drained (400g)
2 Ripe Avocados removed from skin and chopped
1-2 cloves of garlic (depending on taste, I love garlic so added 2!)
Juice of Half a lemon
1 tsp Cumin
2 tsp Paprika
1 tbsp chilli powder (and an extra tsp to garnish)
2 tsp Olive Oil
Simply throw all the ingredients into the food processor and pulse until smooth. If the mixture is too thick just add a little more olive oil and blend again. Spoon the mixture out into a dish, sprinkle with some extra chilli powder and drizzle with olive oil. I enjoy it with tortilla chips or carrot sticks!
